Bone dry on the Cuillin ridge
Two days of squalls on Skye and nothing inside got damp. The roll-top takes a minute to get used to, but it seals properly, and the hip belt stays out of the way until you need it.

The Trail 18L carries water, a shell and lunch without ever feeling like luggage. A breathable mesh back panel, sternum strap with whistle and two quick-reach hip pockets keep you moving when the path gets steep.

- Brush off dried mud, then hand-wash in lukewarm water with a mild, non-detergent soap.
- Air-dry fully, unbuckled and open, away from direct heat. Never tumble-dry or dry-clean.
- When water stops beading on the fabric, refresh the finish with a PFC-free spray-on proofer.
- Store loosely in a dry place rather than compressed at the bottom of a cupboard.

Now my everyday pack
Bought it for hill days and ended up using it for everything. The ventilated back panel makes a real difference on long climbs, far less sweat than my old pack.

Carries well, wish it had a front pocket
Comfortable with about 8 kg inside and the frame sheet keeps it close to your back. My only gripe is the lack of a stretch pocket on the front for a wet shell. The colour is exactly like the photos.

A full season of scree and still fine
Dragged it up and down scrambles all spring. The fabric has a few scuffs but no holes, and every buckle still works with gloves on.

Light, but long in the back for me
At 160 cm the back length is right at my limit, so try it on with some weight in it. Otherwise it is the lightest waterproof pack I have owned.
